Utah Court Rules Filing Deadlines and Timelines Charts
One of the best things we can do for our colleagues and clients is make the procedural rules more accessible. Deadlines in Utah appellate and civil practice are unforgiving — miss one, and your rights may be permanently forfeited.
To help with that, Lotus Appellate Law has compiled filing deadline charts for eight Utah court rules. Each chart organizes the key deadlines for that ruleset into a single, scannable reference. They are free to use and updated as the rules change.
The Charts
- Utah Rules of Appellate Procedure Filing Deadlines
- Utah Rules of Civil Procedure Filing Deadlines
- Utah Rules of Criminal Procedure Filing Deadlines
- Utah Rules of Evidence Trial Preparation Reference
- Utah Rules of Juvenile Procedure Filing Deadlines
- Utah Code of Judicial Administration Reference
- Utah Rules of Professional Conduct Reference
- Utah Small Claims Court Procedures Reference
A Note on Using These Charts
Charts are reference tools — they are a starting point, not a substitute for reading the rule. Deadlines can change when rules are amended, when a court issues a standing order, or when a judge’s individual practices differ from the general rule. Always verify the current text of the applicable rule before relying on a deadline in an actual case.
That said, we have found that having a single organized view of a ruleset’s deadlines helps attorneys and clients quickly understand the sequencing of a proceeding, anticipate upcoming deadlines, and identify where they are in the process. We will continue to update these charts as Utah’s rules evolve.
